Demographic Dividend with a Gender Dimension Regional Dialogue Workshop for Africa
ESCAP will participate in the Regional Dialogue Workshop for Africa, which is part of the project “Demographic Dividend with a Gender Dimension: Entry Points for Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Africa and Asia and the Pacific”. The project responds to demands by member States in the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and ESCAP regions for knowledge products and policy tools that can help member States capitalize on the demographic dividend and support implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10.
At the Regional Dialogue Workshop for Africa, the representatives from good practice countries of Ghana and Zambia, and the target countries of Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda will come together to set project goals, including developing an action plan covering the entire project period, and how knowledge products will be developed and used. The main knowledge products are a dashboard and summary indices to assess progress on gender-related SDGs and the demographic dividend, and operational manuals to integrate demographic dividend considerations into the gender-related SDGs. ESCAP will support development of the knowledge products, as these will also inform project work in the Asia-Pacific region and promote the sharing of good practices between regions.
