Sri Lanka National Workshop to Test and Apply the Youth Policy Toolbox

ESCAP, in collaboration with the Ministry Of National Policies and Economic Affairs of Sri Lanka and the National Youth Services Council convened the Sri Lanka National Workshop to Test and Apply the Youth Policy Toolbox in Colombo on 20 and 21 June 2017. The Workshop, as part of the interregional project “Strengthening the capacity of Governments in ESCAP, ECA and ESCWA to respond to the needs of youth in formulating inclusive and sustainable development policies”, brought together approximately 40 participants. The participants included government officials, representatives of civil society organizations and youth-led organizations, young entrepreneurs and reporters from the media. Key issues that were discussed, through presentations, group work and interactive plenary sessions, were challenges youth in Sri Lanka faced, particularly in the context of the school-to-work transition, and ways to address these; how lessons could be used from neighboring countries; ways in which the learning component of the Youth Policy Toolbox could be strengthened; and how to enhance the applicability and dissemination of the Toolbox. **We would like to thank the National Youth Services Council for providing this video**
